Frequently Asked Invisalign Questions in Concord, NH - Clear Braces

When you visit our Concord dental office for Invisalign clear braces, we want you to have a positive experience. Part of that is providing as much information as possible for what you can expect with Invisalign treatment.

If you are curious about clear braces, read through the frequently asked questions below or call our office for your consultation!

Qualifications and Choosing Treatment

Do I Qualify for Invisalign Orthodontics?

This system of clear braces can be recommended for patients with a number of teeth misalignment issues. While Invisalign trays may not be utilized for cases of severe bite and jaw problems, it is capable of correct some of the most wide-spread teeth alignment concerns, such as crowding.

Any other outstanding health problems, specifically gum disease, should be managed before beginning your Invisalign treatment.

Why Should I Choose Invisalign Trays over Traditional Braces?

Many patients choose Invisalign orthodontics because they want a low-profile appliance that does not distract from their overall appearance. Invisalign clear aligners are most often sought-after by professional adults and older patients, for whom metal braces seem unappealingly youthful.

Wear and Use of Invisalign Clear Aligners

Is Treatment Comfortable?

Compared to traditional metal braces, Invisalign is highly comfortable. This is due to the lack of metal brackets and wires with sharp ends that irritate soft tissue. As with any treatment that is intended to move teeth into different alignment, minor soreness can be expected with each new set of trays.

How Long Will I Have to Wear the Trays?

Invisalign aligners have to be worn 22 hours every day. The longer you have the aligners out of your smile, the longer your treatment plan may extend. Patients who are committed to wearing their trays day and night and who are experiencing minor to moderate alignment problems will see results in a year or less.

Is Invisalign Really Invisible?

Invisalign trays are custom designed to fit over your teeth. They do not cover soft tissue like off-brand aligners. This design, paired with clear thermoplastic, makes Invisalign nearly imperceptible when worn.

Care and Hygiene Tips

Are There any Special Instructions for Using Invisalign?

Invisalign patients have a smaller list of care and use instructions than traditional braces patients. Be sure to take your aligners out during meal times and before brushing and flossing, but keep to the 22 hour per day rule.

Clean your aligners with water, but avoid using toothpaste or other oral hygiene products that are reserved for your teeth. After eating, floss teeth to avoid trapping debris in your aligners for the rest of the day.

Do the Aligners Stain?

Your oral trays can become discolored or cloudy if you do not take proper care of them. This includes removing them at meal times and avoiding the use of toothpaste or other abrasives to clean them. When wearing the aligners, be sure to only consume non-pigmented drinks, mainly water. Avoid drinking soda, coffee, and tea with your aligners in your mouth.
